Annual Dinner


The annual dinner of the Association of Average Adjusters is held each year near the beginning of May following the Annual General Meeting of the Association.  Customarily  it takes place at the Savoy Hotel and is considered by many to be a highlight of the marine insurance calendar.  

In 2019 it was held in the Lancaster Ballroom at the Savoy Hotel on Thursday 9 May, with 246 members and their guests attending.  These included overseas visitors from a number of European countries, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, North and South America and of course the home of our Chairman,  New Zealand.  Photos of the evening can be found here:

Those attending the dinner were entertained by after dinner speeches given by Andrew Slade (Fellow), Alexander Greene (Associate), Frank Nolan (President of the US MLA) and Jon Hancock (Lloyd’s).

The 2020 annual dinner was due to be held on Thursday 14 May 2020 but has had to be postponed due to the Coronavirus situation, to 1 October 2020.  Following news that The Savoy  are not expecting to re-open until September at the earliest and at that time it is unlikely that they will be able to host events above 100 guests in view of the social distancing guidelines issued by the UK Government, and as it is likely that many members and guests will be unable to travel to the UK, sadly we have now had to take the decision to cancel the 2020 Annual Dinner.  The Association intends to celebrate 150 years somewhat belatedly, but no less enthusiastically, in May 2021, with the dinner being held on Thursday 13 May 2021 at The Savoy, and we very much hope to see many of you there.
